Queensland 2024 End of Year Wrap

Most Wanted Property Type

Top Keyword Searches

There is a strong demand for lifestyle-focused homes with scenic features. Searches for "view", "waterfront”, and “water view” have significantly increased, climbing to second, third, and eleventh, respectively.

Searches for “study” dropped out of the top 20 this year after holding 10th place last year, indicating a continues decline in the importance of home office spaces as work-from-home trends ease.

“Dual living” and “duplex” remain popular, ranking fifth and sixth, highlighting the growing demand for affordable housing as buyers priced out of standalone homes seek alternatives.

“Granny flat” continues to hold strong appeal, securing seventh place, showing its ongoing value for side incomes, additional space, or multigenerational living.

Younger generations may be gravitating toward city life for career opportunities, university education, and broader options that come with an urban lifestyle - 16% of Brisbane enquiries from from regional Queensland.

While most home hunters across Queensland come from within the state (70%), some are setting their sights on the bigger-city living in NSW (17%) and Victoria (7%).
